Understanding

What Scoliosis Is

Curves are measured on imaging and vary widely in size and behavior. Many adults live with a curve that was never a problem until other changes appeared.

Adolescent curves are monitored differently from adult curves, and significant or progressing curves are co-managed with medical specialists.

Symptoms

What patients commonly describe

Uneven shoulders, hips, or waistline

Muscular fatigue on one side of the back

Discomfort with prolonged standing or sitting

Reduced motion toward one side

Contributors

What can contribute

Idiopathic curves that develop in adolescence

Degenerative change producing adult curves

Leg length and pelvic mechanics

Previous injury or surgery

Our approach

How this is evaluated and cared for here

Care follows the examination. Nothing on this page is a treatment recommendation for your case.

Examination and, when appropriate, digital X-ray establish what the curve is doing and whether referral or monitoring is the priority.

Care focuses on joint motion, muscular balance, and comfort, with clear communication about what conservative care can and cannot change.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can chiropractic straighten a scoliosis?

No promise of curve correction is made. Care addresses motion, muscular symptoms, and comfort, and specialist referral is arranged where warranted.

Should my child be checked?

Adolescent curves are worth evaluating, and monitoring over time is often the most useful step.
