The difference

Relief, correction, and maintenance

Most people arrive in pain and want that handled first. That phase is relief care, and for some problems it is all that is needed.

Corrective care is the optional next phase, aimed at the movement and support patterns behind a recurring problem. Maintenance is the periodic care some patients choose afterward.

How it works

A plan with a review point

A corrective plan has a defined length and a scheduled re-examination. That review decides whether to continue, change the approach, or stop.

No one is asked to commit to open-ended care, and you can end a plan at any point.

Your part

What is asked of you

Corrective care depends on consistency and on the between-visit work, the specific movements, positions, and habits discussed in the office.

Dr. Younker will tell you plainly when he does not think further care will change your outcome.

FAQ

Common Questions

Is corrective care required?

No. It is presented as an option after relief, with the reasoning explained, and choosing relief care alone is a legitimate decision.

How long is a typical plan?

That follows the examination findings and your response. Plans always include a review point rather than running indefinitely.
