Shockwave Technology at Peak Performance, Grand Junction
Shockwave equipment delivers focused mechanical pressure waves into tissue that has stopped responding to rest and time.
Short answer
Shockwave equipment delivers focused mechanical pressure waves into tissue that has stopped responding to rest and time.
How it works
Mechanical energy, not electricity
The handpiece generates rapid acoustic pressure waves that travel into the tissue beneath it. The stimulus is mechanical, it is not an electrical current and it is not heat.
Depth and intensity are set by the practitioner, so the same unit can treat a superficial tendon or a deeper attachment site.
In the room
What a session looks like
Gel is applied, the handpiece is moved over the area, and the unit pulses for several minutes. Sessions are short and you leave without downtime.
Most patients describe a strong tapping sensation. Intensity is adjusted to what you can tolerate comfortably.
